Two girls Naxalites, collectively carrying a reward of Rs 28 lakh on their heads, have been killed in an encounter with safety forces within the Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, a police official mentioned.

The face-off befell within the Kadla forest space underneath Garhi police station limits within the wee hours, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sameer Saurabh mentioned.

The deceased Naxalites have been recognized as Sunita, an Area Committee Member (ACM) and Commander of Bhoramdev Committee, a wing of the Maoists, and Sarita Khatia Mocha, ACM and energetic in Vistar Dalam, he mentioned.

Both of them have been carrying a reward of Rs 14 lakh every, the official mentioned.

Guns, cartridges, another ammunition and Naxal literature have been recovered from them, he mentioned, including {that a} search operation was underway within the space.
