British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak denied on Monday that his governing get together has Islamophobic tendencies, saying feedback by Conservative lawmaker Lee Anderson have been unacceptable and that was why he had been suspended.
Anderson stated on Friday the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was below the management of Islamists in broadly condemned remarks that prompted the Conservatives to droop him on Saturday.
Asked whether or not the get together had Islamophobic tendencies, Sunak informed BBC radio: “No, of course it doesn’t.”
“Lee’s comments weren’t acceptable. They were wrong, and that’s why he’s had the whip suspended,” he added.
Khan, who frequently speaks of the significance of preventing antisemitism, misogyny and homophobia, has stated he regarded Anderson’s feedback as racist and Islamophobic, and that they might “pour fuel on the fire of anti-Muslim hatred”.
A survey performed from February 16-18 by Savanta confirmed that 29 per cent of Britons believed that the Conservatives had an issue with Islamophobia, probably the most of any main British political get together.
