Japan late on Sunday mentioned it has determined to droop extra funding to the United Nations’ company for Palestinians in Gaza whereas the company conducts an investigation into an allegation that its workers was concerned within the Oct. 7 assault on Israel.

Japan is “extremely concerned about the alleged involvement of UNRWA staff members in the terror attack on Israel” and has been “strongly urging UNRWA to conduct the investigation in a prompt and complete manner”, the overseas ministry mentioned in a press release.
U.N. officers have urged international locations, together with prime donors the U.S. and Germany, to rethink their funding pauses for UNRWA. Japan is the sixth greatest donor to the company, in line with the UNRWA’s 2022 knowledge.
