A 76-year-old Indian-origin man was killed in Alabama within the United States following an altercation with a buyer over room rental. The deceased has been recognized as Pravin Raojibhai Patel, the proprietor of the Hillcrest Motel.

The incident occurred in Sheffield final week. Patel was shot lifeless after a confrontation with a 34-year-old man recognized as William Jeremy Moore, in keeping with news portal al.com.

Moore needed to hire a room on the motel, however quickly an argument broke out with Patel. Subsequently, Moore pulled out a handgun and shot the aged man.

Authorities said that Moore was arrested shortly after the capturing incident whereas trying to interrupt into a close-by deserted home.

The homicide weapon was present in Moore’s possession on the time of his arrest, Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry stated.

One of the witnesses, Jemeriz Owens, a barber who works throughout the road from the lodge, stated he heard three consecutive gunshots.

“He (Patel) was outside. He was just trying to get somebody to leave, and they didn’t want to leave, and they shot him,” Owens advised WAAY 31 news channel.

The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) condemned the incident, labelling it a “senseless act of violence”.

AAHOA chairman Bharat Patel expressed condolences to Patel’s household, emphasising that such violence has no place in communities.

This tragic occasion isn’t the one one in America. A spate of such incidents lately have raised issues concerning the security and safety of the individuals of India who’re residing within the US.
