Two-time Grand Slam champion Simona Halep has requested the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn the four-year ban she obtained for doping violations.
The courtroom stated Tuesday it has registered Ms. Halep’s enchantment of the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s resolution in September.
The ITIA dominated that the 32-year-old Halep “committed intentional anti-doping rule violations ” after failing a drug test during the 2022 U.S. Open and for irregularities in her Athlete Biological Passport.
Ms. Halep had blamed contaminated nutritional supplements and said she would “do everything in my power to clear my name of these false allegations and return to the court.” Ms. Halep reached No. 1 within the WTA rankings in 2017. She gained Wimbledon in 2019, beating 23-time main champion Serena Williams within the ultimate, a 12 months after profitable the French Open.
CAS stated a panel of arbitrators will rule on the enchantment. The courtroom stated there is no timetable for a choice.
Halep might be 35 when her suspension ends in early October 2026.
