Pawar Public girls clinch MSSA U-14 Div-II title

Pawar Public School (Kandivli) performed with loads of grit and dedication and managed to eke out a slender 1-0 win over a sprightly Gopal Sharma International School (Powai) in an engrossing women under-14 Division-II ultimate of the MSSA inter-school soccer event on the Goan Sports Association floor on Wednesday.

The Gopal Sharma women began in attacking vogue and held the higher hand initially as Abriana Chandy, the livewire of their forwardline, made a few runs in the direction of the rival citadel and got here near scoring. But, in opposition to the run of play, Pawar Public School captain Nishika Shah, from a snap counter-attack, scored the one objective of the match within the eighth minute. Thereafter, the Kandivli faculty women defended resolutely to disclaim their opponents from scoring the equaliser, and ensured the title was theirs.

Earlier, within the third-place match, St Augustine High School (Nerul) acquired the higher of Bombay Scottish (Powai) 2-0. After each groups failed to attain within the first half, the Nerul faculty women broke the impasse with striker Avika Deshmukh firing residence the opening objective within the 
twenty ninth minute. 

Avika’s teammate Kirti Pawar then sealed their win, scoring the second objective within the forty seventh minute.
