Woman arrested for stealing gold necklaces from relative on a train

The Cantonment railway police on Thursday, February 1, arrested a 58-year-old homemaker for allegedly stealing two necklaces price ₹8.5 lakh from her cousin whereas travelling in a practice.

The accused Chandra Sharma, a resident of R.T. Nagar, was arrested after the police questioned her intimately following which she confessed and returned the stolen property.

The sufferer, Lalitha Shanmugam from Nagavarapalya, had gone alongside together with her family members to attend a house-warming ceremony in Palakkad in Kerala on January 25. Lalitha, together with the accused, returned dwelling two days later in a practice and acquired down at Okay.R. Puram, whereas the accused continued to journey until Cantonment to go dwelling.

After reaching dwelling, Lalitha discovered her two gold necklaces lacking from her purse and filed a grievance with the railway police on January 27.

Based on the grievance, the police questioned all of the family members who travelled together with her, together with the accused. An in depth questioning led Chandra Sharma to admit to the crime.

Based on the confession, the police recovered 152 grams of valuables and arrested the accused for additional investigation.
