As the protest continued on Friday, the protesters broke by fences and manhandled TMC chief Ajit Maity. As per the visuals shared by the news company ANI, the villagers could be seen ransacking Maity’s home and beating him with slippers as protests continued within the Bermajur space of Sandeshkhali.

Maity, who’s an MLA from Paschim Medinipur’s Pingla meeting constituency, claimed that the protesters have been making false allegations about him. While reacting to his bodily assault, he stated that he was attacked as a result of he belonged to the TMC. “I was attacked because I am TMC leader. My bike was vandalised and they also attacked my wife. My daughter has exams but she is scared now that we will get attacked again.
