Days after Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad claimed he had hunted a tiger in 1987 and has been carrying its tooth round his neck, the state Forest division on Saturday seized the accent and booked him below the Wildlife Protection Act, an official mentioned.

The purported tiger tooth has been despatched for forensic identification and additional motion will probably be taken accordingly.

The legislator, who belongs to the Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, lately posted a video on social media claiming he had hunted an enormous cat.

Buldhana MLA Sanjay Gaikwad lately posted a video on social media claiming he had hunted a tiger in 1987 and has been carrying a tooth of the hunted animal round his neck, as per a launch issued by the Deputy Conservator of Forest (Buldhana division) Saroj Gavas.

The forest division took cognisance of the video and seized the purported tiger tooth.

A case has been registered in opposition to the MLA below the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, mentioned Buldhana Range Officer Abhijeet Thakre.
