Farmers’ protest: The Haryana authorities prolonged the ban on cellular web and bulk SMS companies in seven districts for an extra two days till February 15, in view of the continued farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ agitation.
Notably, farmers are marching in the direction of Delhi demanding a legislation on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, farm mortgage waiver and the implementation of Swaminathan Commission suggestions amongst others.

“…There is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in above mentioned districts on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours,” Prasad mentioned.
The order has been issued underneath Section 5 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules 2017.
According to the order, the suspension of the cellular web companies, bulk SMS (excluding banking and cellular recharge) and all dongle companies, and so forth. offered on cellular networks besides the voice calls within the jurisdiction of districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa has been prolonged until February 15.
All telecom service suppliers in Haryana have been directed to make sure compliance with the order.
Farmers’ protest
