Aaftab Poonawala brutally murdered his girlfriend Shraddha Walkar in anger after she went to fulfill a buddy, Delhi Police’s chargesheet revealed.
The police on Tuesday filed a 6,629-page cost sheet in opposition to Aaftab Poonawala within the Mehrauli homicide case within the Saket courtroom which prolonged his judicial custody by two weeks to February 7.
As per police, Poonawala grew to become extraordinarily violent when he got here to know his girlfriend had gone out to fulfill the buddy.
“On the day of the incident, Walkar had gone to fulfill considered one of her mates which Poonawala didn’t like. After which he grew to become violent and the incident occurred,” Joint Commissioner of Police (south) Meenu Chaudhary said, as reported by PTI.
Police said that the charge sheet was filed on Tuesday under sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code. Over 150 testimonies have been recorded, they said.

Aaftab allegedly strangled his partner, Shraddha, on May 18, 2022 after a fight. “Around mid-May, the couple had an argument over marriage, which escalated and Poonawala killed her,” the police had stated.
Poonawala had earlier advised the police in the course of the investigation that he killed his live-in accomplice after a quarrel over marriage and the concept of chopping her physique into 35 items was impressed by “Dexter”, an American crime TV series.

Shraddha Met Aaftab On Dating App in 2019
After meeting through the online dating app in 2019, Poonawala and Walkar later started working for the same call centre in Mumbai and fell in love. But their families objected to the relationship as they belong to different faiths, prompting the couple to move to Mehrauli last year.
The 28-year-old accused, a trained chef, evaded detection for six months, was arrested earlier in November 2022 after details of the killing and its grisly aftermath came to light during his interrogation.
Shraddha’s Father Demands Action Against Cops
Last week, Vikas Walkar, father of Shraddha Walkar, met Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police chief Madhukar Pandey and demanded action against the policemen who apparently did not act swiftly on two complaints. Pandey has assured action against the erring officials.
According to Vikas, Shraddha had filed a complaint with the Tulinj police in 2020 accusing Poonawala of abusing and assaulting her, while he himself had approached the Manikpur police after his daughter went missing last year.
Both police stations, which come under the jurisdiction of the MBVV, did not act on the complaints quickly, he had alleged earlier.
