With the panchayat elections not far away in West Bengal, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP claimed within the Assembly on Friday, March 10, 2023, that 34 per cent of the seats had gone uncontested within the 2018 polls and received by the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Claiming that the panchayat elections of 2003 through the CPI(M)-led Left Front rule and the 2018 polls beneath the TMC regime have set bitter precedents, Mr. Adhikari stated that he hopes that the State authorities will assist the State Election Commission maintain free and honest elections in 2023.
He stated that 34 per cent of the seats had gone uncontested beneath the TMC rule within the 2018 panchayat elections within the state.
